Medium difficult (intermediate level)
Final Size: 5 feet by 3 feet blocked
Gauge: # 14 sts/# 20 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch
Materials:
BERNAT Baby Coordinates [acrylic; Sport weight; 431yds; 160g]; Lemon Custard; 3-4 skeins (I forgot to keep track - I used them for other projects)
LION BRAND YARN Pound of Love [acrylic; worsted weight, 1020 yd; 448 g 100% Antique White; 2 skeins
1# set(s) US #10 US circular needles (preferable) or extra long straight needles
1 cable needle or double pointed needle
Pattern Notes:
Cable = made with six stitches, slip stitch three stitches as if to purl on cable needle (cn), let it fall in front of work, knit the next three stitches, then knit the three stitches on the cn.
Seed st = knit the purl stitches, and purl the knit stitches.
PATTERN:
Knitting with both yarns together, cast on 144 stitches.
Working in seed stitch border:
Row 1: K1, P1 to end
Row 2: P1, K1 to end
Continue until you have 6 inch border
Working in main pattern:
Row 1: *K1, P1 (work from * for 9 stitches), **K 18, P2, K2, P2, K6, P2, K2, P2 (work from ** twice), K18, *K1, P1 (work from * till end).
Row 2: *K1, P1 (work from * for 9 stitches), **P 18, K2, P2, K2, P6, K2, P2, K2 (work from ** twice), P18, *K1, P1 (work from * till end).
Row 3: *K1, P1 (work from * for 9 stitches), **K 18, P2, K2, P2, K6, P2, K2, P2 (work from ** twice), K18, *K1, P1 (work from * till end).
Row 4: *K1, P1 (work from * for 9 stitches), **P 18, K2, P2, K2, P6, K2, P2, K2 (work from ** twice), P18, *K1, P1 (work from * till end).
Row 5: *K1, P1 (work from * for 9 stitches), **K 18, P2, K2, P2, K6, P2, K2, P2 (work from ** twice), K18, *K1, P1 (work from * till end).
Row 6: *K1, P1 (work from * for 9 stitches), **P 18, K2, P2, K2, P6, K2, P2, K2 (work from ** twice), P18, *K1, P1 (work from * till end).
Row 7: *K1, P1 (work from * for 9 stitches), **K 18, P2, K2, P2, CABLE (place 3 stitches on holder, knit 3, knit the three stitches on cable, P2, K2, P2 (work from ** twice), K18, *K1, P1 (work from * till end).
Continue to knit rows 2-7 until you have 54 inches, or 4 feet 8 inches
Seed stitch border
Row 1: K1, P1 to end
Row 2: P1, K1 to end
Continue until you have 6 inch border
Bind off
It is really important to block your work.
Since this is machine washable, I put the blanket through the washer in the gentle cycle and laid it out flat to dry. It is important to pin it down when it is drying.
